One app for a connected home
Homey brings compatible smart-home devices into one control panel. It is aimed at people who want to manage lighting, heating, plugs, sensors and other equipment without switching between several brand-specific apps. You can check devices remotely, control them individually and organise them around your home.
Automations with Flows
The app’s main automation tool is Homey Flow. Flows let you connect triggers, conditions and actions, so devices can respond to events or to each other. For example, a change from a sensor can start another device or service. The setup uses selectable Flow cards rather than requiring code, making it suitable for both simple routines and more involved home rules.
Homey can work with cloud-connected devices directly. Hardware using local technologies such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth Low Energy, 433MHz or infrared requires a compatible Homey Bridge or Homey Pro. The exact experience therefore depends on the devices and Homey hardware in your home.
Energy information and access levels
Homey includes real-time energy information for connected power meters, solar equipment and smart meters, with estimates available for some known devices. Historical charts and Homey Insights, along with Homey Logic, are part of the paid Homey Premium plan or Homey Pro. The free version supports up to five connected devices and allows unlimited Flows.
Who it suits
Homey is a sensible fit if you are building a mixed-brand smart home and want one place for controls and automation. It is less useful if you only own devices that are tied closely to a single ecosystem. The app is published by Athom B.V. in House & Home, with a 4.1/5 rating from 6,217 reviews and 100,000+ installs.
